From Vision to Action
A vision is merely a mirage without a plan, and a plan is simply a design without disciplined action. During my time as Mayor, I have worked to achieve a balance between growth, quality of life, and fiscal responsibility. I will continue to display discipline and determination focusing on the continued progress of our community toward our shared vision.

The following plans are in varying stages of development:

Quality of Life Improvement Plan
Develop strategic plans and measures to achieve what we, as a community, believe will bring quality and a higher level of well-being to our lives.

- Lake Development
- New Expanded Library
- New Recreation Facilities
- Hospital facilities (Relationship with local hospital decision makers)
- Continue to search for a Community College or a University partner
- Parks Master Planning
- Expanded Retail Shopping

Recreation Plan
As a separate plan – develop more comprehensive recreational facilities to meet the growing diverse needs of our community.

- New Library
- New Recreation Facilities
- Parks System Master Planning

Long Range Financial Modeling
Our growth rate mandates a sensible and planned approach to long-term resource management. This requires an equitable balance between retail, commercial, industrial and residential development. A long-range plan utilizing financial modeling is prudent.

- Tax Rate Reduction Plan
- Retail Expansion such as Super Target
- Hotel Business Expansion

Schedule Traffic Plans
Recently our community was identified as the 8th fastest growing city in the nation. We should all be proud that in the face of our rapid growth we have maintained our sense of community and fellowship. With any growth spurt comes some degree of pain, we have faced ours and will continue to do so going forward. Currently, all our major roads are funded and scheduled for construction over the next 3-7 years. But, we cannot become complacent with just what is scheduled, we must continue with plans and timelines for the future.

- Dart Options
- Further Road Construction and Expansions

Public Safety Protection Plans

FBI statistics have determined that Wylie’s crime rate is the lowest of the five largest cities in Collin County. This makes us one of the safest communities in the nation to raise a child. Our Fire Protection and Water Delivery Systems have achieved the highest ratings possible from the Insurance Standards Organization (ISO); only six communities in Texas have this same rating. In order for us to continue with this level of excellence we must be diligent with our future plans for public safety and resource conservation.

-3rd Fire House
- 911 Direct Monitoring Systems Program
- School Resource Officer Program
- Storm Ready Community Volunteer Program
- Citizen Volunteer Policing Programs
- Citizen Emergency Response Teams

Resource Conservation
- Water Shed Protection
- Pesticide Disposal Programs
- Paint Disposal Programs
- Pharmaceutical Disposal Programs
- Water Conservation Plan

A comprehensive and well-constructed strategic plan will guide our community now and for the next 35-50 years. Only through the combined efforts of all the city’s stakeholders can we truly achieve a complete and thorough plan. Partnerships and communication between the City, the State of Texas, Collin County, Wylie ISD, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Merchants Association, Wylie Economic Development Corporation, Citizens and Community Organizations are at an all time high. Your hardworking city staff and the continuity of leadership on your City Council have forged these coalitions.

Focused on achieving the vision.
